Course Description:

Fellowship training requires more in-depth knowledge about the pathophysiology and management of ophthalmic diseases that can usually be obtained in residency training in Ophthalmology. This is a program of continuous period of intense and focused training in developing and maintaining knowledge, skills, scholarship, and professionalism.

Subspecialty Fellowship training for Vitreo-Retina encompasses the following areas:

  1. Fellowship training requires more in-depth education about the patho-physiology and management of ophthalmic diseases than can usually be obtained in residency training in Ophthalmology. Fellowships include a continuous period of intense and focused training in developing and maintaining knowledge, skills, scholarship, and professionalism.
  2. The goal of Fellowship is to produce a vitreo- retinal specialist with skill and allow independent medical and surgical management of the retina and vitreous.
  3. It also provides an advance level of training in the diagnosis and management of medical and surgical disorders of the retina.
  4. It also facilitates research activities in the field of glaucoma.
  5. To gain skills in community eye service, one-month placement in any branch hospital (for local fellows).

Duration: The duration of fellowship is 18 months for local candidates / 15 months for international candidates.

Requirements/Eligibility:

  • Candidates who have completed post graduate degree
    (D.O./F.C.P.S./M.S./equivalent degree )
  • recognized by BMDC/IIEI&H) in ophthalmology may apply.
  • The candidate must have Binocular single vision (BSV).
  • Age should not exceed 45 years.

Session: There are two sessions in a year for Long term fellowship training program (January and July).

Honoriaum / Stpend: Local fellows will be awarded a honorarium when they will not receive salary grant from employer and/or any other agency.

Interested candidates who have requisite qualifications are requested to send their application on a prescribed form

Selection for Fellowship will be made on a competitive basis based on the results of a written test (MCQ) and a subsequent interview.  (Zoom Meeting interview for foreign candidates)
